Brechbuhler Scales, Inc. recently installed a custom-built B-TEK Workhorse Floor Scale specifically designed and built for the demands of steel processing. The project features custom bump guards designed to protect the platform from daily impacts by forklifts and heavy machinery.

Operators use the scale to weigh steel coils weighing from 2,000 lbs. to 27,000 lbs. before slitting them into narrower strips. This essential step verifies material quantities, supports accurate inventory control and safeguards the integrity of the production workflow. Built with 6-inch-wide flanged beams, the heavy-duty Workhorse easily manages the concentrated loads of steel coils. Paired with the T405 Indicator, the system delivers reliable weighments and clear digital readouts that are easy to see and use on the factory floor.

Did you know we've recently redesigned our mighty workhorse? Here are a few of the changes:

• Top access junction box is now standard - allows for above or below grade installations without weighbridge design change
• Modified weighbridge beam layout – increases weighbridge strength and improves manufacturing efficiency resulting in better lead times
• Improved load cell cable routing within the weighbridge - better for cable protection and future serviceability
